TOP 10 projects, events, and achievements of 2020 by TechUkraine team.
1. Startup-in-Residence DEMO DAY
In February with the support of GIZ Ukraine and DutchBasecamp, we have hosted the culmination of the first program of TechUkraine initiative Startup-in-Residence UA, which building bridges between startups ecosystem and cities, – Startup-in-Residence DEMO DAY. 9 startups – tech urban projects in eco, medical, real estate, tourism spheres, which passed a 3-months acceleration program, have presented their innovative solutions to Kyiv and Vinnytsya.
The winners: UnexploredCity, DonorUA, Traffic maps, Octa Energy. Startup Waste Ukraine Analytics will also be launching in Vinnytsya after improving the project. Watch the video.
2. Consolidation Report of Available Data of UA Tech Market
In March we’d started working on the report “Consolidation Report of Available Data of UA Tech Market”. During 3 months we had been collecting, validating, and analyzing more than 70 analytical reports about the technological ecosystem of Ukraine (local and international) within the project “Consolidation Report of Available Data of UA Tech Market” to create the basis for strategic decisions-making of the Ministry of Digital Transformation. The research was conducted within the framework of a memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the NGO TechUkraine in partnership with the Trade+, International Trade Research Center (KSE) and with the support of the USAID Competitive Economy Program in Ukraine (CEP).
3. Ukrainian ecosystem map by Dealroom
In March Dealroom launched the Ukrainian ecosystem map and it was integrated into TechUkraine portal – the most extensive ever database of Ukraine’s Tech Ecosystem. Today the platform is covering 1300+ startups, investors, accelerators, investments per industry, and more making it the most extensive startup and venture capital ecosystem in Ukraine. The platform is initiated and supported by the Consortium of Ukraine’s leading ecosystem players led by ICU, including UVCA, Western NIS Fund, Horizon Capital, AIN, TechUkraine, and AVentures.
4. Kyiv Landscape 2020 startup ecosystem created by TNW
In June TNW represented Kyiv Landscape 2020 startup ecosystem created by The Next Web X, innovation advisory label, connecting corporates, governments, investors, and startups, in cooperation with TechUkraine and Center42 represented within the project Tech Cities of the Future. According to the report, Kyiv is home to 500+ startups and 150+ incubators, accelerators, coworking spaces, universities, and more. Ukraine is in the top 30 globally and Kyiv has become a European hub according to Startup Ecosystem Rankings 2020 by StartupBlink.
5. Exclusive interviews with global tech professionals
In July-August we made serial interviews with global tech professionals who drive the tech ecosystems of countries and cities, develop startup communities, and push cutting-edge innovations forward across the globe:

6. IT solutions for the competitiveness of Ukrainian mechanical engineering companies and Creative Industries
In Autumn we were working on the project of how IT solutions can increase the competitiveness of Ukrainian mechanical engineering companies and Creative Industries, reduce costs and increase sales. In November with the support of GIZ Ukraine we held 2 workshops:
- How the IT sector can strengthen Mechanical Engineering? Practical tips and collection of ideas
- How the IT sector can strengthen Creative Industries? Practical tips and collection of ideas.
7. Ukrainian Tech Diplomacy
Since summer we’ve developed cooperation with the Ukrainian diplomatic missions abroad and international embassies/representatives in Ukraine. We communicated with Asian, South American, European, British, Scandinavian partners to connect the dots and promote partnership in the tech sector between our countries.
8. Monthly TechDigest
Every month we create the digest with the key news in the Ukrainian tech market: venture capital and startups news, ecosystem news, reports. Read all 11 digests of 2020 that cover the key national and international events of the Ukrainian tech sphere.
9. Partnership and cooperation
During 2020 we sighed the memos of cooperation with UnitCity, Ukrainian Startup Fund, Ukraine Invest, Export Promotion Office, Sigma Software, ELEKS, Center 42, and others.

- In cooperation with Export Promotion Office, we launching the #TechDigest – global opportunities for Ukrainian tech companies

10. TechUkraine Changemakers community
In December, we gathered TechUkraine Changemakers community for a meeting to synchronize our watches with ecosystem builders and shapers which push the ecosystem forward. We discussed the key points of cooperation and uniting forces for the next year.
